Bismarck Comps---Please give input

Post  Tyler on Wed Dec 07, 2011 8:24 pm

Would any of you come to an unsanctioned event in May if awards were like mine and jeremys from last year? maybe do smaller awards and cash pay out? if do unsanctioned classes probly be:
Stock- 3 or 4 depending on car count
Mod- 3 or 4 depending on cars
Extreme- 1
SB- 3
Port Wars- OPEN
Maybe Drive by? and use peak db in comp to determine split up 0-142db 142.1-146 and 146.1 and up? make it a little more fair as to inside/outside readings?

and in august a USACI 3X Show? 1st or 2nd weekend.

Please give input as i would like to start a little planning. And if you think USACI in May would be better let me know but i think only Wild Bill would be the only actual care if USACI Guy coming.

I personally like USACi classes and such......just my .02 cents

For example.....where would mine n Bruce's fit in those classes?

db junkies style for stock/mod like usaci
mod if rear of b pillar modified and also 1/3 window line and down---blow thrus allowed. 16v
ext all goes
stock no 16v no int mods
maybe a trunk class

sb like usaci

port wars-open

drive by anything goes would have to decide how to split up.

if we do it then average over all 4 best of best with small award and cash prize
30hz challenge---highest 30 hz score in 30 second run (only 1 run) and can not hit any other track then 30. Cash prize and award
maybe few other things since money would be saved over doing usaci show

If you do decide to do it this way, I still prefer USACi, but I would put a watt cap on stock classes....bump into mod over xxxx watts or something. Otherwise, I think you'll discourage some locals when they get put up against Willie or someone with a similiar type build/system. Just sayin'

I most likely can't make it in May but a un sanction show with USACI guidelines could be a option .
I think the second week in August works for me but if others want something different I could plan accordingly

ok fish. and we are still working with all of the event planning and with jbl/infinity, clarion, metra, and some car companies on the event as well. as stated before august we want to make a big car show and huge comp. hope for 40 entries in the comp and at least 250 cars minimum for the car show. there is alot to figure out with that all thou and we are going to have another meeting with in the week or so.

also jeremy, willie would not be let in stock. im thinking 0-800 801-1500 1500-2400 and 2401+ in mod
mod 0-2000 2001-4000 and 4001+
ext open

sb like usaci but only 4

also ratings at manufactures lowest rated impedence
Example:
JBL GTO7001 rated 425 @ 4 and 700 @ 2 would be 700
DC 2k rating at 1 is 2k so 2k rating for power class.

I feel this will make more fair then a dc 5k being in a low stock class against the guy with a diamond 1200 watt that has no chance lol

Can't really remember the class structure from the show but for the cars there it seemed to work well. Not sure how it would work if there were very many high powered systems.

under our old db junkies rules, I would be in Mod because of rear seats gone---which is fine with me.

Clamp power or 1 ohm rating is the only fair way to do it IMHO . Someone like my self with 500@4 amps that make over 6 k is is bullshit lol lol!

in our "DB Junkies" rules, we went by "lowest rated impedance." That way if someone has an amp that makes its power @ 2ohms, it will be comparable to an amp that makes its power @ 1. I also think it kinda helps teach kids/newbies that that 2000w Sony Explode they bought @ Wal-Mart is not the bargain they thought it was....just cheap crap. That would be my only complaint about USACi -- if you don't have the amp, your not gonna win your class when up against the big dogs.

BTW, I do like the clamp power idea, I just think it would slow the show down too much.

Who would like to try test a war horse power output? I don't know where you would start with that push pull design. Amp output section has coil 1 sections + - and coil 2 section + -.
